Tours in My Coliving Suite

Modified on Fri, 1 Sep, 2023 at 7:43 PM

When a member of your home informs Common that they will not be renewing their lease, the Common Leasing team will begin to tour prospective new members throughout the home and available rooms. Please note that if a room is currently occupied, the tour will be virtual. Only vacant bedrooms will be toured in person.

Q: How will I know when someone is coming to tour my suite?

A: Common will notify you through an automated email, based on the tour notification guidelines required by the city in which you live. Please see below for specific details for your city.

As a reminder, we are legally obligated to send these notifications, but are not required to receive explicit permission to enter your suite or room during Common business hours. Frequent tours are a function of coliving and we will always do our best to balance the needs of our existing members with the schedules of prospective members looking to tour their future homes.

For Bay Area, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, New York, and Florida Common Members:

  • Common will send you an email at least 24 hours prior to the tour with information on the tour time, as well as details about which suite and room will be toured.

For Chicago and Washington, D.C. Common Members:

  • Common will send you an email 2 days prior to the tour with information on the tour time, as well as details about which suite and room will be toured.

Q: What time do tours usually take place?

A: Tours of rooms typically occur during Common’s leasing business hours, which are:

  • Monday-Friday, 10AM-8PM local time

  • Saturday-Sunday, 11AM-4PM local time

If you live in one of our Washington, D.C. homes, tours will not take place on Sundays or on federal holidays, per D.C. law.

Q: Will anyone be entering my room during a tour?

A: Your security and privacy is a top priority. Unless we have explicitly communicated to you otherwise, individuals touring your suite will not be entering your room for any reason.

If and when you let us know that you will not be renewing your lease at Common, we will tour your room to prospective members. See below for more details.

Q: When will you be touring my room?

A: This varies by region, according to the breakdown below:

  • For Washington, D.C. Common Members: Once you inform our team that you will not be renewing your lease, we will begin touring your room immediately with the applicable amount of notice. All in-person tours will be accompanied by a Common employee, but will only occur if the room is vacant. They will otherwise be virtual.

  • For all other markets: Once you inform our team that you will not be renewing your lease, we will begin touring your room immediately with the applicable amount of notice. If your lease ends in 45 days or less and we have not heard from you as to whether or not you will be renewing, we will also begin touring your suite with the applicable amount of notice.
