Events at Common

Here at Common we have a few types of events that members can participate in. These events are free to members and are intended to create a sense of community within your home and/or city. Learn more about how to get involved below:

Common-Created Events

Q: What is a Common-created Event?

A: Each month, the Experience team curates a series of in-person experiences that are planned for and funded by Common, available exclusively to Common members as part of their membership. Events drop in the first few days of the month, so be sure to check the 'Events' widget on the home screen of your Connect by Common app to see what's happening in your area!

Q: When should I RSVP?

A: You should RSVP ASAP. Our experiences tend to sell out so as soon as you know if you can attend, you should RSVP! If you can no longer attend an event, please un-RSVP so someone else can take your place!

Q: I RSVPd the day-of, but I didn't get a ticket, why?

A: We are unable to accommodate RSVPs within 24-48 hours of the events as tickets have already been sent to those that registered. If someone drops their ticket at the last minute, we encourage them to post to the Community Feed in the Connect by Common app and transfer the tickets to the new attendee.

Q: When will I get my tickets?

A: You will receive your tickets 24-48 hours prior to the event. Occasionally, you may even receive them on the day of your event. Our ticketing process is manual, but our team does the best we can to get your tickets to you by the 24 hour mark at the latest!

Q: How can I provide event feedback?

A: After each event, your app will generate a poll asking how you felt about the experience. You are welcome to provide a rating and notes there. You can also open a support case or email experience@common.com to speak directly to your Experience Manager.

Q: Can I bring a friend to the event?

A: Unless your friend lives at Common, they cannot attend the event with a ticket that Common purchases. They are welcome to purchase their own and meet you and the group there, but these experiences are exclusively for Common members and meant to create new friendships and connections.

Create Your Own Events:

Q: What is a CYO event?

A: Our members have great ideas, and we love including them in our event planning process. A create your own event is when a Common member requests sponsorship for an event that they’ve planned to host for their home or larger Common community.

Q: When can members plan a CYO?

A: Members are encouraged to plan events after their lease is signed until one month prior to the end of membership, after which time they will become ineligible to host a Common-sponsored event..

Q: What is the standard budget for CYO events?

A: There is no standard budget, but the amount of funding approved will depend on a variety of factors, including:

Number of attendees (members)

Event location

Event item requests and estimated cost per person

Cleaning and/or staffing requirements

Other CYO requests (across all Common homes)

Q: So how can I plan a CYO?

A: Email Experience@Common.com and your Experience Manager will be in touch.

Q: What else do I need to know in order to have my event approved?

A: Please ensure you’ve read over these guidelines and expectations prior to requesting your event.

Approval Process

We ask that CYO event requests be made three to four weeks prior to the event in order to be facilitated by Common.

Keep in mind that in order to balance the full requests of all homes and members, some CYO events may not be approved for the full estimated cost per person.

Code of Conduct & Liability

If you are hosting a CYO event in a Common home, please do not move or take any existing items - such as speakers, plants, lights, artwork, etc - from the common spaces (including roofs and outdoor areas). Failure to adhere to this, or damage to Common property, could result in a fee or the loss of security deposit. You are responsible for the actions of your guests.

We do not allow non-residents to attend events. All events, CYO and monthly events are exclusively for Common members.

Overnight stays:

Common does not sponsor outside lodging for overnight stays.

You must clean up after the event. If you do not clean up after the event, it is possible that Common will charge you the cost of an additional clean.

You must submit photos and receipts post-event for proof... and we love to see the images!
